7-Day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb + 4-Day Tanzania Safari Combo
Trip Overview:
11 Days Tanzania Adventure: Kilimanjaro | Tarangire | Serengeti | Ngorongoro.
This carefully crafted 11-day adventure combines two of Tanzania’s greatest treasures: the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro and the iconic northern safari circuit. Starting with a 7-day ascent via the scenic and less crowded Lemosho Route, climbers will gradually approach the summit of Africa’s highest peak through lush rainforest, alpine meadows, and dramatic high-altitude landscapes. With a high success rate due to its longer acclimatization schedule, the Lemosho Route is considered one of the best ways to climb Kilimanjaro.
After the challenge of the climb, enjoy a well-earned reward: a 4-day wildlife safari through Tanzania’s top game parks. Travel in comfort to Tarangire National Park, famous for its elephant herds and ancient baobabs; experience the boundless plains of Serengeti, where lions and leopards roam and the Great Migration may be unfolding; and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa—including the endangered black rhino.

This combo experience is ideal for adventurous travelers seeking both the thrill of the summit and the magic of the safari. It offers an immersive journey from cloud-piercing peaks to savannah plains, all guided by expert local teams who prioritize safety, authenticity, and responsible travel.
Optional Zanzibar extensions are available for those wishing to relax by the Indian Ocean after their adventure. Customizations for luxury or budget-friendly travel can also be arranged.
Arrival in Tanzania:
Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be warmly welcomed by a representative from our company and transferred to your hotel in Moshi, the bustling trekking hub of Mount Kilimanjaro. Nestled beneath the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Moshi offers a comfortable and scenic start to your journey, with views of nearby coffee plantations, distant volcanic peaks, and the buzz of a vibrant town that blends modern life with traditional culture.
Your guide may conduct a pre-trek, reviewing your itinerary, checking gear, and answering any questions. You’ll enjoy dinner and a good night’s sleep before the real adventure begins the next morning.

DAY 1: We drive from Moshi to londrosi gate which can take us 3-4 hours. Ones we reach at the gate we do registration. After completing the necessary registration formalities at Londorossi National Park gate, we drive up a steep track within the national park to reach Shira Barrier (3,300m) where the walk begins. We continue on foot onto the Shira Plateau with excellent views across to the main summit. Our first camp is in the centre of the plateau at “Shira One”
(3,550 m.). [2 – 3 hours walking]
DAY 2: An easy day to help acclimatisation and to explore the grassy moorland and the volcanic rock formations of the plateau. We walk to the summit of Shira Cathedral (3,750 m.), a huge buttress of rock surrounded by steep spires and pinnacles. There is a tangible sense of wilderness here (especially when the afternoon mists come in!) and the views from our camp near Shira Hut (3,840 m.) of Mt. Meru floating on the clouds are simply unforgettable. [4-5 hours walking]
DAY 3: A morning of gentle ascent and panoramic views, leaving the moorland plateau behind to walk on lava ridges beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. After lunch near the Lava Tower junction (4,550 m) we descend to the bottom of the Great Barranco valley (3,900 m), sheltered by towering cliffs and with extensive views of the plains far below. [5-7 hours walking]
DAY 4: A steep climb up the Barranco Wall leads us to an undulating trail on the south-eastern flank of Kibo, with superb vistas of the Southern Icefields. The terrain changes to scree, with pockets of lush vegetation in sheltered hollows, and there is only a short distance to our camp at Karanga (4,000 m), the last water point on the way to the summit. [4-5 hours walking]
DAY 5: We follow an easy path on compacted scree with wide views that gains altitude unrelentingly to reach the Barafu campsite (4,600 m) for lunch. There is a short acclimatisation walk to the plateau at the bottom of the South-East valley (4,800 m). The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night. [3-5 hours walking]
DAY 6: We will start our ascent by torchlight about 1 a.m. so that we can be up on the Crater rim by sunrise. The steep climb over loose volcanic scree has some well-graded zig-zags and a slow but steady pace will take us to Stella Point (5,735 m), in about five or six hours. We will rest there for a short time to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling strong can make the two hour round trip from here along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,896 m), passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area. The descent to Barafu is surprisingly fast, and after some refreshment, we continue to descend to reach our final campsite (3,800 m) Millenium. [11-15 hours walking]
DAY 7: A sustained descent on a well-constructed path through lovely tropical forest alive with birdsong and boasting lush undergrowth with considerable botanical interest. Our route winds down to the National Park gate at Mweka (1,650 m). Here we sign out from the national park before walking on for a further 15 minutes through coffee and banana farms to Mweka village where our vehicle awaits. The shower, the beer, and the swimming pool are tantalisingly close! Then You will drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight
[4-6 hours walking]

Day 8: Tarangire National Park – Elephants & Baobabs
Your safari adventure begins with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s hidden gem known for its massive elephant herds and towering baobab trees. As you explore the park, you’ll follow the Tarangire River—the only permanent water source in the area—where wildlife congregates, especially during the dry season. Expect to see not just elephants in impressive numbers, but also lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and countless antelope. After an exhilarating game drive, you’ll head to a beautiful safari lodge (based on your budget preference) to unwind, enjoy the surroundings, and take a dip in the swimming pool.

Day 9 & 10: Serengeti National Park – Endless Plains & Big Game
After breakfast, your journey continues toward the iconic Serengeti National Park. Passing through the Ngorongoro highlands, you’ll reach the park by midday and begin your game drive through its legendary savannahs. Serengeti is world-renowned for its vast landscapes, predator action, and the spectacular Great Migration—a moving spectacle of over a million wildebeest and zebras.
For the next two days, you’ll explore different parts of the Serengeti, tracking lions, elephants, cheetahs, and possibly witnessing dramatic predator-prey interactions. Your lodge, nestled in the heart of the park, offers the perfect base to enjoy the serene African wilderness. Spend your evenings relaxing to the sounds of the bush, perhaps watching impala graze nearby or spotting birds flitting through the trees.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater – Natural Wonder & Big Five Finale
Wake up early and depart for Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. As you descend 600 meters into this ancient volcanic caldera, you’ll be immersed in a wildlife paradise. The crater hosts an incredible density of animals, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino—as well as hippos, hyenas, zebras, and countless birds.
After a full morning game drive inside the crater, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot before making your way back to Arusha. Arrival is expected by late afternoon, with time to freshen up before dinner or connect to your outbound flight.
