3 DAYS TANZANIA SAFARI

The ultimate 3 days Safari trip! You’ll be visiting Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara and the impressive Ngorongoro Crater. Look out for the famous tree climbing lions in the forest of Lake Manyara Safari Park!

3 Days Safari Destinations: Tarangire |  Ngorongoro | Lake Manyara

This 3-day safari offers a compact yet unforgettable journey through some of Tanzania’s most iconic northern safari parks—Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater. Ideal for travelers short on time or those seeking to combine a safari with other Tanzanian highlights like Mount Kilimanjaro or the beaches of Zanzibar, this itinerary provides a diverse and immersive wildlife experience.

Begin with Tarangire, renowned for its dramatic baobab trees, dense elephant populations, and seasonal gatherings of wildlife along the life-giving Tarangire River. It’s a photographer’s paradise, especially in the dry season when animals congregate in large numbers.

Next, explore the compact yet biodiverse Lake Manyara National Park, where you’ll drive through lush groundwater forests and open plains dotted with acacia trees. Keep an eye out for flamingos on the lake, tree-climbing lions lounging in the branches, and a rich variety of birdlife that makes this park a birder’s dream.

The final day takes you into the Ngorongoro Crater—one of the most unique safari destinations in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a natural amphitheater teeming with life, including all members of the Big Five, and is one of the best places in Africa to see the rare black rhino. The crater floor offers sweeping views and close-up wildlife encounters within a stunning volcanic landscape.

With expert guides, comfortable accommodations, and efficient routing, this short safari promises maximum adventure with minimal time—making it perfect for first-timers, families, or anyone seeking a high-impact African safari experience.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park – Elephants & Baobabs

Your safari adventure begins with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s hidden gem known for its massive elephant herds and towering baobab trees. As you explore the park, you’ll follow the Tarangire River—the only permanent water source in the area—where wildlife congregates, especially during the dry season. Expect to see not just elephants in impressive numbers, but also lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, and countless antelope. After an exhilarating game drive, you’ll head to a beautiful safari lodge (based on your budget preference) to unwind, enjoy the surroundings, and take a dip in the swimming pool.

Rise early for a drive to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. As you descend 600 meters into the crater, you’ll be greeted by a rich diversity of wildlife. The crater is home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including black rhino, lions, elephants, buffalos, hyenas, zebras, and an impressive variety of birds.

You’ll enjoy a full game drive in this self-contained ecosystem, followed by a scenic ascent out of the crater and a short drive to Karatu or the crater rim, where you’ll spend the night in a cozy lodge tucked into the highlands.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Birds, Babbling Brooks & Big Views

Despite its size, the park is rich in biodiversity, from tree-climbing lions to large troops of baboons, and over 400 species of birds, including flamingos along the lake shore.

Enjoy a game drive and, if you wish, an optional walking safari, where you can explore on foot and observe wildlife like giraffes, impalas, and buffaloes in a peaceful setting. After lunch, return to Arusha in the late afternoon, in time for dinner or your airport transfer.
